The Salt Lake County Republican Party is very thankful to the SCOTUS for their decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. We are also grateful for our Utah State Legislators who passed Utah’s “Trigger Law,” SB174. Especially Utah Senator Dan McCay, sponsor of the bill.

This decision has enabled Utah to enact SB174, immediately banning abortions. This is more representative of Utahns and the principles found in our SLCoGOP platform, “We believe all human life is sacred regardless of age or infirmity, and therefore we oppose abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, and the public funding of any of these abhorrent practices.”

There were an average of 3,300 abortions yearly in Utah. To put that into perspective with other recent tragedies, one year is nearly equivalent to the entire 2021-22 student body at Granger High, Utah’s largest high school. 

We understand women can find themselves in difficult situations and feel they have no other choice but to end the life they carry.
