Laurel Price

I have been involved in Republican party politics in Utah for many years and had the pleasure of serving on the SCC this last cycle. I’ve had the opportunity to work for some amazing Republican elected leaders in our state and serve the UTGOP as Executive Director during the 2020 presidential cycle.
I believe in the principles of limited government, personal accountability and fiscal responsibility. I also believe that we need to grow our party and work diligently to educate young Utahns about the importance of conservative principles and how those principles can lift everyone up. We need to be comfortable enough to engage with individuals that we don’t agree with and work to change hearts and minds.
The State Central Committee should be hyper focused on providing financial and grassroots support to Republican candidates throughout the state and working to increase Republican turn out so that our candidates can win up and down the ballot. If I’m re-elected to the SCC, that will be my focus.

Liam Thrailkill

I moved to Utah four years ago with my wife, Brooklyn, from North Dakota where I graduated with my MPA. In North Dakota I worked on several legislative campaigns and city council campaigns. My wife is currently studying at the University of Utah in graduate school. I am a newly made father by my son, Odin, who was born February 7th. I currently work for the Utah League of Cities and Towns where I do policy research and lobbying efforts on behalf of cities and towns across the State of Utah. I strongly believe that the government closest to the people governs best. This has led to many wonderful opportunities of meeting our great leaders around the State both at the city council level and at the legislature. I love living in Utah because of the strong emphasis on the family and individual responsibility. I believe there should be a more concerted effort toward the younger generations of voters and helping them to understand the importance of classic Republican principles: low taxes, small government, deregulation where it makes sense, and community focused efforts. I am always more than happy to talk further about my political beliefs.
@liamthrailkill

James M. Evans

For over 30 years I have been committed to promoting our Republican principles to all who would listen, and even to those that did not want to listen. I have done this as Chair of Utah Republican Party and Salt Lake County Republican Party, as a member of the Utah State Senate, as a volunteer in many positions in our Party, and as a private citizen.
As a member of the State Central Committee, I will continue to promote and support policies that will strengthen our Party, recruit qualified candidates to run for office, and advocate for the SLCOGOP receiving adequate campaign resources from our State Party.
I ask that you vote for James Evans as one of your State Central Committee representatives.

Japheth Abram McGee

I am a lifelong Republican and an active volunteer in the party. I have been serving as the Treasurer for the Salt Lake County Republican Party for the past two years. I have served as a delegate for 13 years (every election I lived in Utah since turning 18). I am a fiscal conservative. I work to make fiscal strength a reality in Utah as a licensed financial advisor to local governments. Most importantly I am a husband and father. I believe it is my duty to stay involved to help shape the Utah my children will live in. I want to preserve the beauty that is Utah while helping others see that Utah is such a desirable place because we are community-minded, well-managed, and have strong values.

Erin McKinlay Axson

Erin has served the last two years on the SCC and enjoyed her involvement in the Utah GOP.
Erin has worked the last 14 years in fundraising, consulting and corporate sales. As a veteran in these fields, marketing, communications, and advocacy are not mere assignments to accomplish—for her, these are skills used to move organizationally critical objectives and movement building benchmarks.
With more than a decade of experience in corporate sales and distribution, success has been defined through working critical projects with companies like Columbia Tri-Star, Costco, and PBS and setting the trajectory for consistent market and revenue growth.
In her non-profit capacity, Erin served as Executive Director for The Signing Time Foundation, a non-profit organization connecting children in Ghana’s deaf orphanages with the gift of Sign Language. Delivering results that met the needs of those served benefited from the passion, service, and genuine connection Erin brings to relationships.
On a number of occasions, Erin was brought on the team for a Prominent DC based consultant firm to help shepherd policy advocacy projects to the National Republican Governors Association. Critical discussions dealing with drug treatment policy and the criminal corrections system were capably navigated while Erin helped make complex problems become the opportunity for innovative solution.
When not engaged on your behalf with Utah Policy Advocates, Erin finds adventure in the extraordinary and the everyday. Whether exploring the jungles of Vietnam or tackling a new stitch in a knitting project, Erin keeps her husband, three sons, and daughter entertained and on the move. From a book addiction to playing the French horn, piano, oboe, or spoons, Erin is the eclectic addition of talent and life your project needs

Aimee Winder Newton has served on the SCC for the past four years. She brings experience in policy and public relations and works to bring people together. Aimee believes the party can do more to talk about our shared principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government and local control. She would love to earn your vote for the SCC.

I’m an outspoken, unafraid, unashamed conservative with a record of standing for the Republican Party platform and conservative principles in my life, work, social media, podcasts and public service. I believe the State Party needs to have a strong backbone, know what it stands for, promote it, work to be sustainable and effective, and support candidates and policymakers who also support and promote our values and principles. I believe we are most likely to attract and retain people to the Party when we stand for what we say we believe and engage in meaningful activities. I recognize that we are in a battle for all things most important to us, namely God, Family and Freedom. We must do more to protect and preserves those values.
I have served in the party in just about every position, helped dozens of candidates, raised record amounts of money, organized massive and effective grassroots efforts, and given endless hours of time. If elected I will support necessary efforts to promote our platform, organize our members and initiatives, raise money, work to ensure fair and accountable transparent elections in the party and public, and work to attract more voters and activity to the party by making the party relevant, reflective of our core beliefs, and doing what a political party should do, especially one that embodies what most Americans and Utahns believe in.

Danielle Ahn is a conservative attorney born and raised in Utah who wants to bring law and order back to Salt Lake County’s Justice System. She believes a prosecutor’s job is to enforce the law as established by the legislature, not to use plea deals to circumvent the law or to promote a political agenda. She won 42% of the vote in her recent race against a 12 year liberal district attorney. During her race, she was endorsed by Governor Cox, A.G. Sean Reyes, Congressman Burgess Owens, the State Fraternal Order of Police, the Salt Lake City Police Association, and local and state leaders. She is dedicated to defending truth, justice, and the American Way.
Above all else, Danielle Ahn stands for law and order. She knows that civil society and our systems of justice are strengthened when both victims and potential criminals can be confident that laws will be upheld. Society shows compassion to victims by upholding their rights and executing justice.
Danielle believes that plea deals should be used to uphold and serve justice, not to circumvent our laws and leave victims stranded. She understands the struggles that face most defendants born into difficult situations and her experiences have shaped her belief in a better and brighter tomorrow for those who reach to achieve it.
Danielle graduated from the University of Utah Law School in 2019 with a certificate of excellence in international and business law. She currently serves a co-chair for the Utah Young Republicans and served as a policy advisor to County Councilwoman Dea Theodore. She is an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast and hosts a youtube channel where she discusses politics and law weekly.

Anthony Loubet learned the value of hard work from his father who immigrated to the United States from Mexico. His father worked tirelessly to feed his family, working two jobs to support his family and pay for his nursing certification. Drawing on his father’s example, Anthony has worked in fields ranging from pest control to Chief Legal Officer. He knows what it means to work hard in America.
Anthony earned an associate degree from a local community college and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management as a part-time student, eventually earning his law degree from BYU, serving in many student leadership roles along the way.
During his legal career, Anthony was a Deputy Utah County Attorney, a senior policy advisor for Salt Lake County Councilman Dave Alvord, and currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel for a suite of companies that provide services to persons with intellectual disabilities.
Anthony has served as a county and state delegate, a senate district chair, a member of the Salt Lake County Executive Committee, and a former member of the State Central Committee. He is currently serving as the Representative for Utah House District 27, which covers Copperton and portions of Magna, Kearns, West Jordan, and West Valley City.
Anthony and his wife Kira have been blessed with six children and have made their home in Kearns.

My objective as a member of the State Central Committee is to maximize support and resources to the Salt Lake County Party. Salt Lake is the capital and purple battleground. The county did poorly last election cycle and the statewide party’s priority should be turning that around.
Other than that, and building party unity generally, I have no agenda. I have no interest in taking sides in the frequent Republican v. Republican disputes I see. I am also retired from legal practice so have no interest in using politics for profit.
I’ve been a lifelong Republican but have only been involved with the Utah party since 2020. I felt I had to get involved considering the direction the country has been taking particularly since COVID. Also most of my friends are on the political left I had to accept social consequences. I’ve already paid those so I am all in!
Since I got active with the local party, I have accepted every opportunity I have been offered:
• Precinct chair for Town of Alta (the first GoP presence in ski country)
• Legislative Chair for House District 41
• Acting Chair for Senate District 19
• State and county convention delegate
• Volunteering for local campaigns
• Attendance at substantially all county party executive committee meetings
I look forward to meeting you at convention.

After 12 years as an elected member of the Murray City School District Board of Education and the Utah High School Activities Association, last year I decided to take my knowledge of education and my Murray community and serve in a different compacity. I threw my hat in the ring and ran against a longtime Democrat incumbent for the Utah House of Representatives. The outcome may not have been what I hoped for, but what I learned and the people I met were worth it! As I came to meet and work with many party members, I found I have much to learn and that there are many places to serve our community. Last fall, I was elected to the Salt Lake County GOP By-Laws committee, where I have already learned a lot about how our county party functions. This year I was asked to be the Credentials Chair for this year’s organizing convention. I, again, am enjoying meeting members of the party and serving in that compacity. Hopefully, all goes well in this department at the convention. What I feel I bring to the SCC is a fresh outlook and new ideas. Although I value institutional knowledge, that was my position as a veteran school board member for many years, I believe I come with a fresh slate and open eyes to any role I can play in the party. I don’t have an agenda, or long-standing alliances, or grudges; I am just happy to serve and be of help where I can be.

Having moved to Utah in 2020 from Washington State, I’ve experienced both highs and lows of being a Republican in Salt Lake City. I had the chance to testify to Salt Lake County providing them with strong data to fight all Covid policies, facilitated the meeting with Dr Peter McCullough and Republican leadership, and provided data to Richard Snelgrove’s team in support of Salt Lake County conservatives.
Strong Republican leadership is essential to preserve and enhance this state’s freedom.

Derek Matsumori

Derek Matsumori is a 4th-generation native of Sandy, Utah—where he continues to reside with his wife and 5 children (youngest child 6, oldest child 13). After passing the Bar in 2013, he pursued a professional path in business and finance. In 2020, Derek chose to leave the corporate world where he worked as a Director of Risk Management to pursue his passion for entrepreneurship. Today, Derek’s group of rapidly growing businesses provide jobs for more than 25 employees and families.

Derek looks forward to potentially contributing his time and experience to the Republican Party through service on the State Central Committee.

Emilie de Azevedo Brown

I am passionate about the conservative principles of governance that make our state great. I have served as a state and county delegate. I currently serve as vice chair on the Constitution and Bylaws committee of the SCC for the last two years. In my four years of SCC service, I have attended every meeting in person.
Our top priority as SCC members should be to get conservatives elected. We need effective messaging, fundraising, and grassroots organizing to keep Utah RED! I have helped Republican candidates win in both US and UT state senate and house races by volunteering to host cottage meetings, make outreach visits, calls, emails, and texts, consulting on speech writing and speech delivery, helping with messaging, and in media production.
As SCC members we should help to raise money for the party so we have the resources to strengthen the party and support our Republican candidates. Funds are needed to modernize the caucus and convention system to keep it relevant in the future.
My husband, Derek Brown, and I have 4 great kids. I own a children’s educational media production company and have worked as a professional voice actor for 30 years, including voicing numerous Republican TV/radio/web commercials across the country every election cycle. I am conversant in Spanish and believe that our Spanish speaking friends share many of our conservative values and need to feel at home in the Republican party. I love to sing and dance and debate political views. I have hosted numerous SCC and Republican events at my home because I believe the friendships and sense of community that we build as we work together for the principles we value, are priceless.

Gloria Vindas

I have been involved in Utah politics as a community director for grassroots organizations throughout the state for the past few years. I have helped educate citizens on how to become involved in the legislative process and to become aware of the policies being implemented in Utah. I am a strong advocate for Constitutional freedoms, and I firmly believe that we need to protect our civil liberties in this wonderful state. Utah was created and founded because of the overreach of the federal government and we need to continue to preserve those rights at a local and state level.
I hope to have the opportunity to be able to serve you and have your support as a member of The State Central Committee.

Maryann Christensen

I’ve worked as a citizen advocate for over 2 decades with Utah Eagle Forum, Utah Legislative Watch and Citizens for Strong Families. I’ve worked with Pro-life, Pro-family, Pro-constitutional rights groups to influence policy in Utah to promote the economical and societal principles that made the United States the greatest nation on earth.

Catherine Paquette-Richardson

My husband and I have both decided to become SCC candidates. I am currently a Senate District 16 Chair, Precinct Chair WJD019, and a County and State Delegate. I earned a BA from CA State University Fullerton, 1979, and a Paralegal Certificate from University of Irvine, CA, 2007. We are currently retired and have the time to support our Utah Republican Party.
I am against vaccine mandates, passports or lock downs. I am pro-life. I am for the electoral college. I am against giving support to Ukraine and we need to release the January 6 prisoners. I am pro America First. I believe in Jesus, the son of God.
I believe our First Amendment rights to free speech, free assembly, free exercise of religion, free media, and right to petition our government are being threatened.
We (Utahns, our government and judiciary) have given too much consideration to diversity, equity and inclusion, creating nonsensical laws. I do believe that the radical, biased Critical Race Theory is being taught in our public schools. Both DEI and CRT divide and weaken us and cause great harm to our children, our state, our future generations. Our legislators are reluctant to speak up against DEI or CRT, and so are the people.
Most importantly, we are going against God’s will.
The caucus system of electing our representatives is far superior to other states’ system of using just the popular vote in primaries and general elections. I recognize the caucus system is always being threatened. I am against signature gathering that enables candidates to be placed on the primary ballot regardless of how the caucus votes.
I believe election integrity (even here in Utah) is of utmost importance. Second, we need to close our borders.
I am very concerned with saving our Constitutional Republic. Our three branches of government have overstepped their powers.
The legislative branch has given its power of lawmaking to administrative agencies and is constantly passing omnibus bills that raise our debt ceiling.
The judicial branch is making laws and has become too political. It is supposed to give its opinion on matters and Congress is only supposed to take its ruling into consideration.
The executive branch uses executive orders to make law, bypassing Congress, and is not executing laws in a just manner, giving rise to a two tier system of justice.
Our Utah state government has also veered from these principles.

I’m a Draper resident since 2012 and a Utah resident since 2008. A job brought me here and when that went away I stayed because I fell in love with the state. I grew up in Ohio, college in Michigan, 10 years in Chicago and 10 years in San Francisco. I am a marketing executive with a MBA from University of Utah. I see a fantastic future for Utah as it evolves to be more diverse and want to be part of shaping that process while still maintaining the aspects that I fell in love with.

Cheryl Acton has served in the Utah House of Representatives since September 2017. She was motivated to run for office by a desire to restore and preserve freedom, which, in her view, has been eroding over her lifetime. Cheryl believes in the worth and dignity of individuals and families and their right and ability to govern their own affairs. She also believes that, for the good of the Republic, common sense, civility, wit, and wisdom must return to politics. Representative Acton believes that while other elected titles (senator, governor, etc.) have lost their original meaning, “Representative” is unambiguous. It describes perfectly her role as a voice for the people of District 38. Cheryl grew up in Kansas and lived in Arizona and Denmark before arriving in Utah to begin her freshman year at BYU. Awed by Utah’s scenic beauty and its wonderful people, she takes enormous pride in her adopted home state. After graduating from BYU with a B.A. in English, Cheryl worked as a law librarian while her husband finished graduate school. She has also worked for the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Defense, where she earned the Meritorious Service Award. She has been a freelance writer and editor, an independent contractor, an internet researcher, a newspaper reporter, and a classroom volunteer, but in her heart, she has always been a teacher. Cheryl and her husband, Scott, have occupied the same home in West Jordan for 27 years. Over an 11-year span touching three decades and two millennia (1989-2000), they had two sons and two daughters. As a family, they accomplished the goal of traveling together to all 50 states. Representative Acton has many hobbies and interests, including writing, traveling, current events, history, quote collecting, and photography.

Neil Sebring

Patriot, champion of freedom, Poet Warrior, Father, Grandfather, and defender of democracy! I started my political service when asked to be on the Salt Lake County Election Integrity Committee. Through that experience, I gained a much better understanding of why we need to fight to secure our elections. We can only do that with the right Republican leadership. We need to get the Republicans that don’t vote conservative out of office to preserve our Constitutional Republic. If elected I will vote for conservative values. I will fight to secure our elections. I will stand my ground against Republican Politicians that don’t vote conservative. I invite you to email me if you have any questions. I will have a booth at the convention and invite you to come to say hello.

I recently ran for House District 40 (Sandy, Midvale, Murray) and serve as a state delegate. I spent 15 years as a staff member to the Legislature. Professionally, I’m an economist.
I think we as a party should be more involved in thought leadership. Working with our elected officials, we should be pushing policies that are consistent with our party platform. As an example, here’s an opinion piece I recently wrote for the Deseret News:
https://www.deseret.com/opinion/2023/2/17/23602814/utah-800-million-tax-cut-legislature-budget-inflation.
Overall, working with you and our party’s leadership for the coming two years, I think we should focus on:
• Making the party the center location for thought leadership on policy and economics through content and activities.
• Winning County Mayor, maintaining a majority on the County Council, and increasing Republican state house seats.
• Increasing the younger generation’s interest in the GOP.
• Improving data accuracy for better election turnout and interest in the conservative vision of the future.
I ask for your support.

Here to serve, not to gain. Teaming up with YOU!

I have been living in Utah for 12+ years and fell in love with the caucus/convention system after my first experience attending a caucus. I have been elected and have served as either a state delegate, a county delegate, or a precinct chair every year since that first caucus night.
I am active in the community and stringy believe in and encourage others to keep our elected representatives honest. I do that by communicating with them often and by letting them know how I feel about issues and pending legislation regularly.
The Party platform is important and the elected representatives of the party should be held accountable to the platform. As a state central committee member, I will do my part in ensuring the party’s platform is maintained and that our representatives understand how various actions may or may not align with that platform.
Please vote for me and I will prove with my actions that my words and my integrity are very important to me and I will not waiver from them without good reason. I say that because sometimes I learn that I was wrong about something and therefore need to make an adjustment in my position.
Thank you for your support!

Mr. Wilson is an associate at a private equity firm and is actively involved with his community, church, and family. He serves as the Salt Lake County Chair of the Utah Young Republicans and is part of the Young Leaders Group of the Urban Land Institute.

I’m a native New Yorker but I’ve lived in Utah most of my adult life. I’ve served several terms as a county and state delegate, precinct chair and one as a state central committee member. I want to serve on the central committee again because I want to help the Party keep on message. I want to elect statesmen that actually reflect Utah’s values, not interloping carpetbaggers or self-serving politicians that buy their way to primaries. I’ve worked on many campaigns for candidates that I honestly believed would honorably live up to their oaths of office.
By profession, I’m a freelance writer, ghostwriting books that help individuals progress in their work life and personal life. I am a small business owner, and that business has been destroyed by bad economic policy more than once—I know what it’s like to struggle to rebuild your life.
By avocation, I’m active in the off-road recreation community—organizing expos and seminars to help our small businesses become bigger businesses; promoting tourism to grow that industry sector; and by advocating for necessary and proper land use regulations.
Back in 2011, I was part of the team that got the Legal Tender Act passed, making gold and silver legal tender in Utah.
For the last three years, I’ve volunteered at the Utah Food Bank, handing out food packages to needy Utahns—in the cold & snow all winter, in the heat all summer and, often, in the rain between. I do it because I used to need that help, and I know a lot of people who still need it.
I’m a patriot. I figured that out during boot camp in the US Navy Reserve back in the 1980s.
I still believe in the American Dream. I guess I’m old-fashioned that way, but I’m the son and grandson of immigrants, who came to America for a better life. That Dream, you might say, is a family tradition.
I ask for your vote with two promises: I’ll do what I can to make Utah the best place in America to raise a family, grow a business, and have a great life. I will never support any proposal that puts the wants of the government before the rights of the people.

Jessica Christopher

Jessica has been working on promoting conservative ideals and getting Republicans elected since she campaigned for Ronald Reagan in her first grade mock election … Reagan won. Since that time, she has served the Party in a number of ways including College Republican State Chair (many many years ago), precinct chair, region chair, county delegate, state delegate, and alternate national delegate. Over the last two years she has served on the State Central Committee for Salt Lake County and during that time she attended every meeting – in-person.
She was sold on a strong caucus/convention system when was elected as a county delegate at her first caucus. Through the years she has seen her candidates win and lose through this process, but regardless of the outcome, the caucus/convention was the best way for the Party to choose its candidates for the November election.
She works as the Casework Director for U.S. Senator Mike Lee. She is also a Professional Registered Parliamentarian and has put her skills to use when serving as parliamentarian at Republican conventions and central committee meetings.
I would appreciate your vote to represent Salt Lake County on the State Central Committee.

I’ve lived in the valley since 2017 and currently reside in Cottonwood Heights. I’m married with two children and am an attorney whose current role is corporate counsel; before that I was a felony prosecutor for Salt Lake County. Before I was an attorney I served in the United States Army. I only recently got involved with the local party and am currently a county delegate.

Rayanne Riepl

Government functions best when it’s closest to the people and limited in scope. I believe this light-touch government approach, coupled with deregulation and fiscal responsibility, are conservative values that help make Utah the best state to live, do business, and recreate in. After spending several years in Washington D.C. where I worked at Americans for Tax Reform, I found myself longing to be part of the movement to make my home state of Utah, the best in the country. I moved back to work at local thinktank Sutherland Institute, and now have a role at World Trade Center Utah where I help further the mission of making Utah the crossroads of the world by helping Utah businesses grow internationally.
My husband Chase and I enjoy living in downtown Salt Lake City. In my spare time, I love to bake and recreate with my husband in Utah’s beautiful outdoors.

Casey is a native Utahn, and lifelong conservative who is shocked that a state where Republicans win super majorities year over year, Utah is moving the needle on social causes more towards leftist ideology. When a person protests in a We the People T shirt, they are thrown out of meetings by Republican Legislators and arrested. County Commissioners are charged for protest rides, our school districts pushing SEL while lying to parents, legislation passed to restrict GRAMA requests, and select precinct chairs fail and continue to fail to act and grow the party. Things need to change.
After seeing lackluster results to grow the party, and support conservatism in Utah, he’s fed up with the status quo. Get out the vote initiatives, and growing the party must be like the PGA tour, operating 12 months of the year, all the time. For too long the norm amongst average voters has been waiting for a candidate of status, or money to run and play savior to UT politics. This is backwards. After getting active, despite no help from precinct leadership, he was fortunate to connect and learn from the goat of voter registration Scott Presler directly. While being mentored, a great friendship was born, and strategies are being mapped out to increase Utah’s engagement from within, or outside of the party.
Casey is a strong advocate for the 2nd amendment, Freedom of Religion, Pro-Life, limited role of Government, and States Rights. Seeing the abysmal Primary turnout numbers over the last 20 years, it’s no surprise the needle is moving towards leftist causes. Our 2 highest being 33% and 26%; many years are embarrassingly low, in the mid teens. While disinterested in ever running for legislative office, he committed to run for the SCC to represent Salt Lake County. He is firmly dedicated to growing the party, and protecting traditional conservative principles, and increasing voter participation in our Primary and general elections for years to come..
His goal is to increase primary turnout to 40% in the ‘24 cycle. He hopes to have your help and support with this, without your vote.

He is the former State Director for BLEXIT Utah, which is an organization co-founded by Candace Owens and Brandon Tatum.
Jon is most known for telling it like it is. He stands for and is vocal about what he believes in. He wants everyone to join him in speaking up, not being afraid to say something, and wants others to get involved with him.
Utah is very blessed to have him in our state as an example to us all on how to stand strong and lead.

Throughout his career, Amram Musungu has been a tireless advocate for the people of Utah. He has served in various capacities and has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to our Party.

This achievement has helped to address major issues and has earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues in the party. He possesses endless optimism and enthusiasm for life and the ability to draw out the very best of those around him.
Amram Musungu is known for his ability to work collaboratively with others and to find common ground on even the most contentious issues. He is committed to building a stronger, more inclusive party that reflects the values and priorities of all its members.
If re-elected to the State central committee, Amram Musungu will continue to work tirelessly to build a better future for the people of Utah and the UT GOP party as a whole. He is committed to advancing the party’s platform and priorities, and to working collaboratively with other party leaders to achieve our shared goals. He believes that by working together, we can create a better, more just society for all.

I am a life-long republican because of the hope, principles, and time tested virtues espoused in the Utah Republican Party Constitution and State Party Platform. I believe “citizens’ needs are best met through free enterprise, private initiative, and volunteerism.” I believe that furthering GOP principles regarding the role of government, personal responsibility, ethics and standards, family values, equal rights, economic development and the environment, will mend our wounds and be an example to the country in good self-government.
I am a 5th generation Utahn, born and raised in Salt Lake City. I graduated from the University of Utah (BS), Idaho State University (MEd) and Brigham Young University (PhD). I married the former Rachel Christensen 40 years ago. We raised our 6 children in Idaho, North Carolina, and Virginia, We returned to our beloved home state of Utah in 2015.
I retired from the Church Educational System of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where I taught seminary and institute, in addition to serving two decades as a domestic and international administrator.
In 2020, I ran for the Utah State legislature as the GOP nominee from district 40. I currently serve on the Millcreek City Community Council and was recently elected to 2nd vice chair of the council. As a State Central Committee member since 2021, I have participated in general meetings, nearly always in person, and was elected to serve on the audit sub-committee. I hope to continue to serve to build unity around and further republican principles.

Jared Cahoon

Currently I serve as the Vice Chair of the Salt Lake County Republican Party, and have dedicated close to 10 years volunteering in many positions within the party and campaigns.
Born and raised in Salt Lake County, with exception to an LDS mission in Anaheim and Long Beach California, I grew up in West Jordan and attended Kearns High, where I met my wife Kathryn. I later attended the University of Utah, receiving a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from Westminster College. For the last 16 years I’ve worked in the defense sector, employed in many roles from Program Finance to Financial Planning and Analysis, and now currently a Finance Operations Manager at one of the fastest growing pest control companies in the United States.
Ten years ago I attended my first caucus meeting and I was hooked. I love the Caucus Convention System. I think what drew me in was talking about real issues facing our community, with my Republican neighbors. The caucus gave me a voice, and afforded me the opportunity to be part of the process. Since that first caucus meeting I have served as a Precinct Chair, Legislative Chair, Senate Chair, SLCo Young Republican Chair, SLCo GOP Vice Chair, and State Central Committee member. Serving in many capacities has given me unique experience, which helps me see where the Party needs strengthening. I would like to help our party in two areas over the next two years, strengthen our party grassroots leadership and implement sustainable technology and services for our nominees.
I’m looking at the next two years with excitment and optimism for our party. Please join me in helping our State and County Party continue to move toward a positive and productive election season by voting for me, Jared Cahoon, for State Central Committee.

1. Election Integrity:
Our elections are not transparent or secure enough. Here are areas we should improve through our state legislature: (1) the signature verification process; (2) ballot adjudication/duplication; and (3) disclosure laws that allow dark money groups (Soros type) to spend money in Utah without disclosing their donors.
2. Corrupt Nonprofits:
The Salt Lake Tribune is the most prominent example of a corrupt nonprofit. They and their employees explicitly support Democrats in violation of laws they must follow as a 501(c)(3). Although nonprofits are prevented by law from engaging in political races, employees of the Tribune aggressively Tweet and attack conservative Republicans while protecting, giving a pass to, and promoting Democrats. Robert Gerhke’s attack on Richard Snelgrove is just one of many examples. There are many other nonprofits violating the law to support Democrats. Our legislators need to pass laws to properly regulate nonprofits because our state is currently shirking its responsibility to regulate nonprofits.
3. Fighting Woke Culture:
This session we learned how radical Utah’s Democrats are. They opposed a bill to ban puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgeries to treat minors suffering from gender dysphoria. They claim it is conversion therapy for parents to be allowed to TALK to their own child (suffering from gender dysphoria) and a therapist about the benefits of staying in their birth gender (e.g., sexual function, fertility, no need for hormones/surgeries for life). Although our legislature has made some progress on this issue, there is more to be done to protect Utah’s children from people pushing transgenderism and other woke culture issues.
4. Holding Elected Officials Accountable:
Are you tired of Republican elected officials who run for office promising to be conservatives and then bend to left-wing organizations like Equality Utah? We must do a better job of holding our elected officials accountable to their campaign and election promises.

Loie Lowry

Hi! I’m Loie Lowry and I would love to serve Utah by giving my time to the State Central Committee. I’m a 25-year resident of Draper and have been a delegate for my district since 2012. I’ve served as both a state and county delegate. My preference is the county delegate position and here’s why! Local policies are where “the rubber meets the road” for Utah residents. As a life-long Republican and a true conservative, I would be honored to give my time and efforts to the State Central Committee. I feel that Utah is at a crossroads with outside influences trying to change our way of life. We need strong voices to put forth ideas to keep our state conservative. I will be your voice.

I live in Millcreek, Utah with my wife and three daughters, where we mountain bike, smoke good meat, read books, and enjoy our beautiful state.
After attending college at BYU and earning a law degree from the University of Utah, I worked in the private sector for a number of years before taking a position with Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes. In his office, I have primary responsibility for working with the Utah Legislature to advocate for AG Reyes’ priorities, especially those that protect the public, resist federal overreach, and defend Utah’s law.
In the past, I have served the Republican Party as a member of the State Central Committee and as chair of the Utah Young Republicans. But my favorite role has been as a state and county delegate. I believe in limited government, individual rights, and the importance of the Second Amendment to a free people. I am an ardent advocate for better understanding by the public of the Constitution, and I love the way that document When it comes to the law, I am a textualist and an originalist, and I believe courts should interpret the law, not make it.

Timothy Boggess

Tim is a long time Salt Lake County resident. He loves this country, Utah, and the Constitution and wants to see our party and country return to the principles that made us the envy of the world.
Tim has worked for L3Harris for 13 years as an engineer. He enjoys family, pickleball, and the liberties given by our Constitution. God bless!

Carolyn Phippen has been involved in various organizations over many years, focused on bettering the lives of children. She served, from its inception, on one of Utah’s first Foster Care Review Boards. She founded, funded, and served as president of Infinity Foundation, a non-profit foundation providing opportunities for at-risk youth, and worked as scholarship director/fundraiser for the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute. She has also worked in Africa to help establish a microfinance project as part of a program for girls who had been left behind and without opportunity.
Carolyn attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, where she graduated with a degree in political science. She has written extensively on policy issues for lawmakers across the country and served as Chief of Communications for Speaker Hughes and the Majority Caucus of the Utah House of Representatives, as well as Intergovernmental Affairs Advisor and Area Director for U.S. Senator Mike Lee. She currently runs Freedom Front of Utah, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the principles of freedom that have made this state a wonderful place to live. She and her husband, Scott, are the parents of five boys and reside in Draper UT.

Gary Leany

Currently serving as the leg chair for house district 39. I’ve been a delegate either county, state or both for many years. I own two businesses that my boys now run the majority of. I am a right to life supporter. I think we need to do away with signatures route for candidates. I don’t support Romney. I believe Trump was the best president we’ve had in decades. I believe the mask mandates were wrong. I believe the black lives matter movement is a fascism organization. Please vote for me as a SCC member.

Miranda Jones

My name is Miranda Jones, and I am a proud Republican candidate for the Utah Central Committee. With a strong belief in fiscal responsibility, limited government, and personal freedoms, I am dedicated to advancing the Republican cause in Utah and beyond. I understand the importance of upholding conservative values and principles, and I am committed to making sure that these values are represented in the political process.
I have been an active member of my community and am passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for all citizens. I have dedicated my time to numerous Republican causes and am always looking for ways to engage with like-minded individuals. I am committed to working with established leaders to develop better policies and programs for our state. It’s time for a change and I am confident that my leadership can help make that happen.
I am a mother of 4 kids and a wonderful supportive husband of 23 years. I love my community and look forward to making a difference.

Connie Peterson

I want to make a change in our community, in our state, our government. It takes each of us individually and working together to make things better.
I believe the Constitution should be first in all decision making. It is the government’s rulebook and rights and protection for the citizens of this great country.
Every elected official raises their hand and swears and oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and they should be held to that oath.
As an elected official you work for the people. You are their representative. You are only a mouthpiece of those you you represent.
Of the people, for the people and by the people.
I believe this with every fiber of my being.
As a firearms instructor for the last 6 years I am active in teaching people the safety and the knowledge be able to protect and defend themselves and their families. I am also a Training Counselor which means I teach and train new firearms instructors. I volunteer often teaching safety and awareness classes at churches and schools.
I was the campaign manager for a congressional campaign and I am active in the legislative process.
The best way to learn about me is to talk to me, ask me questions a get to know me. I have never been one to back away from a tough question. I may pause and think or reflect on something but I definitely don’t run from the tough stuff.
If I don’t know an answer, I will tell you I don’t know. I am always willing to research something and do my best to find an answer. I won’t just make up an answer.
We are all blessed to live in the country we live in. We all must do our parts. We are not a democracy as the media tries to make it out to be. We are a Constitutional Republic and we must continue to fight to keep our freedoms, because if they take a little they will take more inch by inch.

Fred C Cox for the Utah Republican State Central Committee
Being a member of the SCC is a volunteer, elected, political party position, representing Salt Lake County to the State Party.
We not only need someone to show up to the meetings, (I have 100% attendance), we need someone that can work with others.
At the end of 2019 and the beginning on 2020, I was the original sponsor (1 of 5) for the Utah 2019 Tax referendum. Working with voters throughout the state, both liberal, conservative, and everything in between, and as volunteers, we were able to gather over 170,000 signatures in 29 counties, exceeding the 116,000 required signatures in 15 counties. Because of the success of our team, the Legislature and the Governor repealed 2019 SB 2001, instead of facing the backlash of the voters that fall.
There are 180 SCC members Statewide, representing tens of thousands of county delegates, 4 thousand state delegates, and hundreds of thousands of party affiliates. The meetings have been in St George during snow storms, Fillmore, Park City, Erda / Grantsville, Ogden, Lehi, etc. I have have had 100% attendance, even before being elected in 2011, and since. The meetings can take all day, and have been in the past, argumentative. Some are wondering why I would run again?
I believe we must stand up and be heard or watch our constitutionally protected rights disappear. We can’t continue to let government take over our lives.

Erin Longacre

The Republican Party needs to be led by individuals that truly believe in and will adopt our mission statement and beliefs. We are a party “by the people and for the people.” I am a wife and mother of three children, who believes that honesty, integrity, and transparency are the key components to a governing body. I have a strong belief in God, and I am truly grateful for those who have served and continue to serve our country to make this the greatest place on earth. I believe our party needs to be strengthened and fortified. Our party has been watered down by individuals who deep down do not reflect our core values. I do not believe in government overreach like we have seen these past few years. Now is the time for all of us who love this country and love this state to step up and be involved. I ran for school board for Canyons District back in 2022. It gave me such an appreciation for all those who throw their hat in the ring. Although the results weren’t what I had hoped for, I continue to find ways to serve my community and those around me.
I visited Utah back in 2004 from the East coast, and fell in love with this wonderful state and my future husband, Chris. We’ve been married for 17 years and raise our two daughters and one son in Draper. I’ve called this home for so long and continue to count my blessings as a result of planting my roots here. Thank you for your consideration in voting for me for this position.

Chase Jameson Riepl

As a lifelong Republican, it’s evident to me that traditional conservative principles of fiscal responsibility, community-mindedness, and strong moral values are what will help propel Utah through this next chapter of its history. Having spent my career at Goldman Sachs and Zions Bank working with individuals, municipalities across the country and businesses of all sizes, I’ve learned that government in its best form is local, limited, and promotes family and business friendly policies. I love Utah and everything that it represents to the world, and I feel an obligation as part of the rising generation to help our state continue to be the envy of the country.
My wife and I enjoy living in downtown Salt Lake City. We try to spend as much time as possible outside hiking and playing pickleball, or inside Vivint Arena cheering on the Jazz.

Derek Brown

I have served as Chairman of the Utah Republican Party, a member of the Utah State Central Committee, and as a member of Utah House of Representatives. I have also served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Senator Mike Lee. I am an attorney by training, and previously practiced constitutional and appellate law. I am committed to conservative causes, and have volunteered for many years with the Utah Republican Party. My wife, Emilie de Azevedo, and I live in Salt Lake County and have four children.

David J Young

Conservative principles and personal responsibility drew me to run for the Utah House or Representatives twice. After the first run I served the State Central Committee 2019-2021 and took a break to focus on family after the second try at the Legislature. I have served my neighbors and party as a precinct chair, county and state delegate and currently serve as the legislative chair in District 31. My career has been in the mortgage and building industries. Where I learned the importance of advocacy in the political process. As a central committee member I did not miss a meeting and commit to attend every meeting in the future.

Robert Mower Spendlove

I am a lifelong Republican and I have been active in the party since I was an adult. I currently serve in the Utah House of Representatives, representing District 42, which covers parts of Sandy in Salt Lake County. Professionally, I am the Senior Economist for Zions Bank.

Nathan S. Ricks

Nathan Ricks is a native-born son of Utah who was raised and educated in the valley his family settled in more than 180 years ago.
The son of a mechanic and the grandson of a farmer, he learned that the way of the world is work. His mother introduced him to politics by taking him to his first caucus meeting while he was in 7th grade. At 19 he was elected a county delegate. Resigning that post, he left home on September 11, 2012 to join the world’s finest Navy. There he’d spend almost nine years doing his country’s work.
Three deployments to the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean later, he decided it was time to come home and fight for the values that drove him to raise his right hand.
The drive that was rewarded with three personal decorations and a Letter of Commendation from his strike group commander will be put to work, ensuring that the party succeeds in its mission to preserve the American Republic and the Federal separation of powers by living up to the values you adopt at the convention.
In the short time since he received his honorable discharge, he has been elected as his precinct’s chair, appointed as the Legislative Chair for District #40, and was nominated for a seat on the County Executive committee as a Senate District Chair. He’d lose that election by the thinnest of margins, one vote. He is not just a party man; he believes that getting good men elected is the key. In the last election, he worked closely with Tom Young, the Party’s nominee for his district’s State House seat. Together they gave the Democrats a hard run for their money.
He’s running to represent Salt Lake County on the State Central Committee as vigorously as he has represented the Midvale precinct in the County Central Committee and is asking for your support.

“I believe we are continually losing young people to the Left because we fail to communicate that they have a voice in the Republican Party. As a board member of the Utah Young Republicans, I am running for SCC re-election to keep the young conversative voice to the table, to push for conversative values, to collaborate to enliven the Republican Party with new perspectives, and to lead more young conservatives to channel their passion for problem solving in public service.
“I believe in principles shared within the Utah Republican Party platform. I believe the Republican Party needs to expand its platform by creating policies that respond to and solve current issues we face today, such as cybersecurity, the wise use of technology, preserving first amendment rights, rising living and healthcare costs, and keeping the American economy ahead of global competition.”
